Help Ramjan, Younos, Manan and Sagor go to Indo, surf incredible waves & bring back tons of equipment for the Street Surf School!

A two-week surf trip Nov 4-18th & the biggest adventure of their lives

L to R: Younos, Ramjan, Sagor & Manan

For the three 18 year old teenagers, a chance to surf in Bali with Ramjan is a dream come true.

Younos, Manan, and Sagor have been surfing the Cox Bazaar break for the last seven years. For each of these boys, surfing has been a refuge.

Unable to go to school, Younos, Manan, and Sagor took their lessons from the sea, sand, and senior surf boys — their heroes. Out in the water, they learned discipline, resilience, and respect for mother nature. On land, the boys found hope and family among a growing surf community which has come to include a swell of humanitarian aid workers who now take to the waves every weekend.

After years of surfing together, Younos, Manan, and Sagor finally became senior surfers mentors to a group of eager young children, most of whom were either living or working on the streets of Cox’s Bazaar. They have devoted their time and energy these last two years to raising up the next generation of at-risk youth — offering compassion, snacks, and of course, lots and lots of surf lessons!

For Younos, Manan, and Sagor, Indonesia will be a trip of many firsts. They will experience life outside of Bangladesh and be challenged by world-class waves.

This trip depends on your generosity. To turn this dream into reality, Younos, Manan, Sagor and Ramjan need to raise $6,000. They would like to raise an additional $2,500 to purchase new and used equipment for the Street Surf School. Surfboards and other accessories are not available in Bangladesh. This equipment will allow the school to continue their programs.

How to give:

- By card on Paypal (if you are having issues, bank transfer # can be provided)

- In person to Ramjan, Younos, Manan and Sagor at the Surf School (BDT, USD, EUR) - these amounts will be manually added to the goal meter on Donorbox

In Their Own Words:

Who we are and what we do?

Street Surf School was established by Ramjan Mia, a Cox’s Bazar native, in 2015 as a local community initiative to create for street and working children to learn surfing to build their self-esteem, confidence, and social skills.  Street Surf school was founded based on humanitarian worker the surf program to show young members of the community that sports can be a healthy, positive way to spend time and interact with their peers.

Children participate in different lessons such as first aid, life skills and team building activities providing children with a place where they can have fun, learn more about themselves and see how sports can positively impact their lives. The school employs adolescent mentors who act as role models as they interact with children during the sessions.   Each adolescent mentor is a graduate of the program.  Part of the goal of the program is to have children recruit new participants and teach them surfing as well.

This embodies the surfing ethic of club members giving back to the community.  In the future, Street Surf hopes to employ a cadre of young mentors who can become role models and teachers for other children.
