Membership to the National Stars and Stripes Museum/Library
The National Stars and Stripes Museum & Library's mission is the documentation, preservation, and communication of the iconic story of the Stars and Stripes newspaper and the commitment and service of the Stars and Stripers, our servicemen and women, and everyday citizens.
The Museum collects, documents, celebrates, interprets, and preserves material related to the creation and continuing history of the Stars and Stripes, our nation’s military newspaper. With over 7000 square feet of attractive multimedia exhibits, visitors see the American military history from a different perspective and a unique and important view of some of the most pivotal moments in modern history.
The Museum highlights the history of the Stars and Stripes from the first issue, printed by Union troops in November 1861, through the 20th century, and into the modern era. In our publicly accessible archives, researchers can access our historical collection of the Stars and Stripes and related military history collections.
Please check out our website and our Facebook page.
Here are a couple of YouTube videos about our museum. This first video features Andy Rooney and Steve Kroft. The next video features Brian Brooks, former editor of the European Stars and Stripes during the early 1990s, and Jim Mayo, founder of the Stars and Stripes Museum/Library.
The Museum means a lot to us here in Southeast Missouri. We work hard trying to keep our exhibits updated. All visitors get free admission, guided tours, free kid’s activities, youth programs, special events, school tours, research support services, library services, educational workshops, free access to the Stars & Stripes archives, and our historical Stars & Stripes newspapers.
