Sports and Activities Fund
For the community of Nossa Senhora de Fatima the activities offered by the Good Shepherd Project are much more than just something to do when not at school. For them Futsal, Jiu-Jitsu, Circus Skills, and other courses are a life changing experience.
For all of our participants it's a chance to learn respect for others and for themselves, knowing they are worth something and can make something of their life. The courses bring discipline, to their lives and offer something to be proud of.
For all of them the work is hard, our teachers believe in pushing each student to be the best they can be. Our courses are not just for fun and each student is taught that they need to be commited. We have had amazing results, not only in seeing a change in their personal behaviour but also inachedemic performance. Teachers have praised us and spoken to us of the change in their behaviour after attending the course.
For Dauane chess was a path way to law school, recieving a fully paid bursary after having won competition after competition. She aims to become a childrens rights lawyer, and one day a judge.
For Paula Futsal has become a lifelong passion, giving her a community to find support it. She wants to be a safe house parent and works with us to look after the children at the "Casa Lar".
Help us to keep this valuable work going. Give today to be a part of this change.
This is to enable local people to access the activities, which help us to keep them away from more dangerous activities such as gang membership. For young women it is an opportunity to excel outside of school, to have fun, and to have structure in their lives.
Money will be used at the discretion of our workers in Brazil, they will be authorised to use it in situations where they believe a child will be greatly benefitted by it. This could be for things such as a pair of futsal boots for a student too poor to afford them, help to go to a tournament so the student can progress, or gym matts for the gymnastics class.
The aim of the fund is not to replace the families support, we will not offer continuous support to the same student all the time. Rather we will simply fill in the gaps where a student is in an unusually difficult circumstance.
Sponsors will receive a quarterly update about what the fund is used for. This will not necessarily include the names of beneficiaries due to privacy reasons. The purpose of these updates to to be transparent with all our giving, as well as to encourage donors on how their gifts are helping.
Please note that the trustees of the Good Shepherd Project reserve the right to re-classify donations to this fund for use in the wider operation of the charity. This will only be done in situations where they believe the charities operations are at risk of collapse.
