Everyday I get emails asking for help. It’s very stressful trying to decide who we can take in and who we can’t. There is such a huge need. Sometimes it just hits me a certain way.  I received the following picture and email about Cyrus: 

Hi Yvonne! Checking in to see if you have a room for a desperate beat-up male. They pulled 15 ticks off him. We’re thinking he was dumped a few years ago and trying to survive. No idea who is feeding him. Of course he is scared. I hate that I have to put him back out without knowing who will be feeding him.

Honestly, I just felt his sadness and broken spirit through his picture. We gave the green light and brought him in. The rescuer warned me that he had bitten a couple of people that tried to care for him. After he arrived it was like a switch went off. He was instantly at home. He was friendly and desperate for attention! He is loving, sweet and follows us like a dog. He even comes when you

call him! He gives kisses and hugs thanking us. He has never bitten or showed any aggression. Now when I look at him, I just feel his joy.
