Sponsor Tater Tot

Tater Tot is a 7 year old potbelly/Kune Kune cross and is approximately 170 pounds of perfection. Two year ago he joined us after spending nearly a year in an animal shelter. He had been impounded multiple times for roaming free, and after his last pickup, Animal Control took his owner to court to seize him. Unfortunately, his owner refused to keep him contained, which led to Tater Tot being attacked by other dogs, nearly getting hit by cars, and causing property damage while scavenging for food.
Once permanently seized, Tater Tot was networked and eventually found his way to us. Initially, there was no mention of any medical issues or the need for neutering; in fact, the shelter staff believed he might already be neutered.

Upon arrival, it became clear that Tater Tot needed to be neutered and required medical attention for his snout. He had suffered injuries from dog attacks, resulting in damaged ears and a severely injured snout. One of his nostrils had healed shut, making it difficult for him to eat or drink and causing significant breathing issues even while resting or walking.
We decided to take Tater Tot to UGA for neutering and a thorough evaluation of his snout. During the procedure, they also created a new nostril for him. He spent a few days recovering at UGA, and the difference was immediate—he could breathe much better and now has a unique, beautiful, and functional snout.

Tater Tot has been with us for over two years, and he has quite the personality. He tends to be a bit of a loner with other pigs and can be selective with humans, but the ones he loves get to enjoy his sweet company. He particularly loves when we refill the water troughs, eagerly jumping up to drink from the hose and play in the water.

He currently has his own cozy space off our office, where he sometimes shares time with roommates like Pepito, Gordy Pepito, Cheerios, and Charlotte. His favorite snacks include Oreos, popcorn, fruit leathers, and apples.
