Pfeffernüsse lost both of her feet to frostbite in the winter of 2024/2025, and she was the only remaining bird in her flock as the rest died of hypothermia. Thankfully, she survived, though she now needs to live inside as she has mobility challenges. Her roo partner Retired Rear Admiral Jay Garagaroo (Admiral for short), who also lost nearly all of his feet, arrived with her and they are deeply bonded.

Pfeffernüsse and Admiral are part of our indoor special needs bird crew. They require specific environments and therapies to thrive, but that doesn't mean they can't live full, happy lives. We are so glad they're here.
