Goal
For many years the Presbyterian Church of Australia has been in partnership with the Presbyterian
Church of Vanuatu. We have assisted the church in training its Pastors to assist the church in capacity
building.
In 2019 we will be sending the Cooke family from Orange, NSW, to serve at Sulphur Bay on the island of
Tanna in Vanuatu. There, they will be working with Pastor Maliwan Tarueii in helping the church at
Sulphur Bay reach out to the local residents and also develop some of the local education facilities.
We are now planning to build a very simple house at Sulphur Bay in which the Cookes will live for the
time that they live at Sulphur Bay. The house will be constructed by a team from the Orange
Presbyterian Church and the Toongabbie Presbyterian Church. The building materials will be ordered
from the capital city, Port Vila, and delivered by ship to Tanna. Tanna is a somewhat remote island.
