SOW Missions 2025

Dear family and friends,

I’m excited to share that this year, I’ve been given the opportunity to go on a short-term mission trip to Sendai, Japan with Student Outreach to the World (SOW), a university ministry I’ve been serving in throughout my uni years. Our team will be partnering with local churches and missionaries to share the Gospel and serve the community there.

I have previously been to Japan in Year 9 for missions with my church. Back then, I was still figuring out who God was to me and I didn’t yet have confidence to boldly share my faith. But now, many years later, I’ve encountered God personally and have deep assurance in proclaiming Jesus as my Lord. Going back to Japan now feels full-circle,  this time going with conviction, confidence in the gospel, eagerness to see how God is moving in Japan now, and a desire to serve however God calls.

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.” 

- 2 Corinthians 5:20

This verse reminds me I’m not going as a tourist, but as an ambassador of Christ, carrying His message, representing His love, and depending on His Spirit. It’s a privilege to be sent, that even in my unworthiness and through my weaknesses, He chooses to work in and through me.

안녕하세요. 올해 저는 Student Outreach to the World (SOW)이라는 대학생 선교 단체와 함께 일본 센다이로 단기 선교를 떠나게 되어 이렇게 소식을 전합니다. 저는 대학교 기간 동안 이 공동체에서 꾸준히 섬겨왔고, 이번 선교에서는 팀원들과 함께 현지 교회와 선교사님들과 협력하여 복음을 전하고 지역 사회를 섬기게 됩니다.

저는 중학교 3학년 때 교회와 함께 일본으로 첫 선교를 다녀온 경험이 있습니다. 그때는 하나님이 제게 어떤 분이신지 잘 몰랐고, 제 믿음을 담대히 전할 자신도 없던 시기였습니다. 하지만 그 후로 하나님을 인격적으로 만나고, 예수님이 제 삶의 주인이심을 확신하게 되면서 복음을 전하는 일에 대한 마음도 깊어졌습니다. 다시 일본으로 가게 된 이번 선교는 저에게 매우 의미 있는 기회입니다. 확신과 기대감으로, 또 하나님께서 부르시는 어떤 자리에서든 기쁘게 순종하고자 하는 마음으로 이 길을 준비하고 있습니다.

“우리는 그리스도를 대신하여 사신이 되었습니다. 하나님께서 우리를 통하여 너희를 권면하시는 것 같이…”

- 고린도후서 5장 20절

이 말씀처럼 저는 여행자가 아닌, 그리스도의 사신으로서 그 땅에 갑니다. 하나님의 사랑을 전하고, 그분의 말씀을 나누며, 제 능력이 아닌 성령님의 도우심에 의지하려고 합니다. 부족하고 연약한 저이지만, 그런 저를 통해서도 하나님께서 일하시고 사용하신다는 것이 참 놀랍고 감사한 일입니다. 자격이 있어서가 아니라, 하나님께서 보내시기에 가는 것, 그것이 제게는 큰 특권입니다.

이 선교를 준비하며 기도와, 감동이 되신다면 재정적인 후원으로 함께해주시면 감사하겠습니다. 한 사람당 약 $3,500 경비가 필요하며, 어떤 금액이든 큰 도움이 됩니다.
