I am Stasya Briggs, my maiden name is Anastasia Zavgorodnaya. I was born in Ukraine , I am half russian , half ukrainian, US citizen .

In 2013, I moved to Mexico , I started to rescue abused , hurt and dying animals … founded AmigosDeAnimales.org .

Today, as a CEO , founder and volunteer of Amigos de Animales, I am sending a plea to friends, family , strangers.. anyone who STANDS WITH UKRAINE to help as much as you can. My immediate family is in Ukraine. I see and hear first hand what is happening in my homeland. And of course, the most vulnerable suffer the first… animals are among them.

I know, You are already helping your local shelter , you are already helping your community, but I am hoping you can spare something to help animals of Ukraine.

Ukraine already has the highest stray dogs population in Eastern Europe and with at least 1.5 million people from their homes , it means millions more of pets have been abandoned. 2.9 million people in Ukraine are already in need of humanitarian assistance, and it means stray and abandoned dogs and cats are starving to death.

One of our priorities is a Gostomel Shelter. Gostomel Shelter located 30 km north of Kiev and houses about 700 dogs and cats.

I met Asya Serpinskya, the founder of Gostomel Shelter, about 15 - 20 years ago . I visited her shelter, I brought rescue pups to her shelter, I donated for years before I even started Amigos .

I have a few role models in my life, she is one them …

Rescue and Shelter life is hard in peaceful times. I know. And it’s a nightmare during the war.

79 y.o. founder of the shelter along with a few volunteers are trying to survive and keep 700 animals alive.

Gostomel shelter as many other honest hardworking shelters and rescue groups in Ukraine , at this moment , CANT accept credit cards , neither as apple pay nor zelle nor e- transfer .

We , Amigos de Animales , CAN accept donations FOR THEM and wire to their bank.

Amigos de Animales is a Registered USA and Canada Animal Welfare Charity, a no-kill volunteer run Animal Shelter and Mass Spay and Neuter Center, operating in rural Mexico.
