Sophia's Closet, Inc.
Thank you so much for being here and welcome to Sophia's Closet, Inc.'s main donation page.
Our mission is to throw kindness around like confetti by helping children in our community (aged 0-17 or 18 if still in high school) by providing a small wardrobe of lightly used or new fall and winter clothing during the school year. Professor Karen J. Pine, of the University of Hertfordshire (U.K.) writes in her book Mind What You Wear: The Psychology of Fashion, "When we put on a piece of clothing we cannot help but adopt some of the characteristics associated with it, even if we are unaware of it." We aim to provide the children in our community who need clothing (for any reason) a wardrobe they can be proud of that exudes the magic and light they embody.
One very unique aspect of our organization is we have a "Kidzecutive" Board who helps with day to day operations and strategic planning. In fact, we were founded by a 7 year old (Sophia) who wanted to give some of her clothes to others who needed them! This opportunity provides our kids a way to give back to their local community and immediately see the impact they can have by helping others.
We operate completely on donations of time, items, and funds from our community. We would love your help! If you, your children, business or organization would like more information on ways you can help, please reach out to us! We are open to new ideas, forums, and events that will help us keep these children clothed and cared for!
Any gifts, donations, or contributions donated here will be used to help fulfill the mission of Sophia's Closet, Inc., a Section 501(c)3 nonprofit and your gift may qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes.
