Solidarity with Morocco

A devastating magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Morocco, an area ill-prepared and unaccustomed to earthquakes, on the night of September 8th, 2023. As of September 14, the death toll is nearing 3,000. Thousands are injured, and even more are now homeless and without basic necessities. Fondation de France, involved in the region for many years, has committed €250,000 Euros to recovery efforts and is asking for additional donations to strengthen its response and provide emergency relief to thousands of people of affected by this disaster.

Thanks to its experience in the area, and with the support of its trusted local partners, Fondation de France is providing emergency aid to Morocco, rapidly deploying necessities such as food, water, and shelter to support victims in the worst-affected areas. Isolated regions that are now extremely difficult to reach due to destroyed roads are a top priority. Long-term recovery aid will be carried out in a second phase, including economic recovery, psychological support, and sustainable reconstruction.

Please consider contributing to the response efforts. Donations will support trusted, local Moroccan associations directly involved with the populations affected by the earthquake.

Thanks to the support of donors and foundations, Fondation de France has been working in Morocco for over ten years alongside local associations and stakeholders, with a particular focus on the role of young people and women in society.
