Monthly donations: supporting lasting, holistic legal and psychological support for refugees and asylum seekers

Through donations, SolidariTee is able to offer grants to NGOs vital forms of support to refugees and asylum seekers which will enable them to access their rights in the long-term. Grants provide our partner organisations with predictability and an ability to plan their programmes and budgets according to a dependable source of income. For us here at SolidariTee, regular donations have just the same effect.

Legal aid is so under-funded that thousands of asylum seekers in countries like Greece, where most of SolidariTee's partner organisations work, are forced to navigate a highly complex asylum process that is rife with misinformation without any guidance. This results in a high rate of deportations, many of which are unjustified. The combination of the awful conditions in refugee camps, along with the grueling nature of the asylum process, which effectively forces people to recount in minute detail the persecution they have faced, results in a very high incidence of PTSD and other mental health conditions. 

SolidariTee supports small NGOs that provide refugees with legal services for their asylum cases, as well as reuniting families separated across Europe and helping people access education, accommodation, and healthcare. We also support organisations which provide mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services, in tandem with the legal process.

Through accessing legal aid in a psychologically supported, trauma-informed way, refugees have the opportunity to escape this cycle and begin to rebuild their lives beyond camps. It’s the most empowering and long-lasting form of aid we can offer.
