Nearly half of humanity is at risk of malaria. In 2015, there were around 214 million malaria cases, and around 438,000 malaria deaths worldwide. 70% of which were children under the age of five.

Africa furthermore, is facing an extreme shortage of medical staff. In many countries, one doctor is responsible for tens of thousands of people. There is simply not enough human capacity to screen everyone who is infected.

Our Solution:

Our solution is to provide medical centers and organizations with access to rapid, accurate early stage malaria diagnostics. Smartscope enables medical experts to get the most of their time. Trained staff can screen patients, and send the result overviews to medical experts, allowing them to assign a proper treatment. With the help of machine learning, medical centers can save lives, time and money.

Smartscope is still an early stage startup. We are working together with medical partners in Ethiopia to diagnose, collect, and annotate blood samples from patients. Through this, we help people in need, and work on the Smartscope mobile application.
