Support Good Clean and Fair Food
Slow Food NYC's Urban Harvest program brings good food education to New York City school children, engaging students in the connections between the food on their plate, their wellbeing, communities, and the health of the planet. During the school year, Urban Harvest in the Schools supports city schools in launching, developing, and growing school gardens. Over the summer months, Urban Harvest runs an educational urban farm in East New York, Brooklyn. We provide structured, hands-on learning experiences for children to gather around the table and deepen their engagement in the food system - inspiring them to share what they learn with their families, friends, and communities. In addition, Urban Harvest provides hands-on internship opportunities through local community organizations for youth in East New York. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Urban Harvest has begun implementing new, exciting and safe ways to incorporate educational programming in schools and adhere to the shifting needs of our community. We recognize that the need for affordable and readily available food has become more pertinent than ever. As a result, we have doubled down on our food production and distribution efforts to offer as much support as possible to local families and individuals.
Urban Harvest typically reaches more than 2,000 school children throughout the city each year. As a grassroots organization with a working board of volunteers, every dollar donated goes directly to support our educational programming. Help us continue this work to not only serve our current schools with the maximum amount of resources and support, but to increase the amount of fresh and nutritious food that we can give to our local community and beyond. Thank you for your support of good, clean, and fair food for all New Yorkers.
