Over the last four years, I've had the pleasure to serve the residents of Hendersonville as City Council member and Mayor Pro Tem. While it hasn’t been easy, it has truly been an honor to be able to affect my community in such a positive way.

In a relatively short time, for government anyway, we've accomplished a lot of great things;

  • Navigated the COVID-19 Pandemic

  • Passed Paid Family Leave for City of Hendersonville Employees

  • Increased Pay for All City of Hendersonville Employees

  • Championed and Secured a Sustainability Manager Position Within the City

  • Championed the Environmental Sustainability Board and Their Efforts, Including the First Hendo EarthFest

  • Formed a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee

  • Hired a DEI Consultant to Evaluate the City’s Processes and Completed a 1 Year Process with Them

  • Secured Partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Hendersonville and the City of Hendersonville to Build a Community Splash Park

  • Built a new Fire Station 1 (In process)

  • Built a new Police Station

  • Reimagined and Built a New Laura E. Corn Mini-Golf Course

  • Broke Ground on the Ecusta Trail

  • Began Work on a Sustainability Plan for the City of Hendersonville

  • Rebranding the Historic 7th Avenue District

  • Approved New Pickleball Courts at Patton Park

Over the next year, there are many things that we’re working on, including;

  • Passing the new City of Hendersonville 2045 Comprehensive Plan

  • Beginning the Housing Strategic Plan

  • Breaking Ground on the Kiwanis Club of Hendersonville’s Splash Park

  • Completing Phase 1 of the Ecusta Trail

  • Revising the Tree Ordinance to Ensure Better Canopy Protections

  • Continue to Champion for the Hendersonville Connections Center

And, my priorities moving forward include;

Sustainability

  • Approve the first City of Hendersonville Sustainability Plan and see through on the priorities that are listed within the plan.

Housing

  • Identify key areas within the City and key players to ensure we can build more attainable housing for our residents

  • Establish a Public Land Trust to help subsidize the cost of land for attainable housing.

Parks

  • Ensure we have fair and equitable access to our parks by researching ways that we can improve the parkland and open space we already have and establishing new parks throughout the City.

Staffing & Employee Benefits

  • Establish an early child care program for City of Hendersonville employees.

  • Establish a position within the one of our emergency services departments that responds to mental health calls.

  • Increase paid family leave program.

In order to accomplish all of this, it is important that I continue to develop relationships with key figures within our region - our state legislators, my fellow council members, county commissioners and other municipal officials. Building bridges across these entities and within our community will strengthen our ability to ensure that Hendersonville is a place that everyone feels welcomed and supported.

Thank you so much for your support over the last four years! Without you, none of this would be possible and I look forward to serving the City of Hendersonville for another term.
