    Goal

2018 has been a year of excellent progress for ShinyShortzRyan. The business has gone from strength to strength, with orders coming in regularly from all corners of the globe and a high degree of loyalty from returning customers. My creativity has known no bounds and I have been developing new product ideas at every opportunity.

I typically work 7 days a week for up to 10 hours a day just to keep up with demand. The scope for further expansion is therefore limited by the man hours that I can put in just on my own. However, with improved equipment, I could reduce the time spent on each individual item by a few minutes, meaning I can squeeze in one or two extra orders per day.

I'm looking to invest in an industrial sewing machine like this and an overlocker machine like thisThese will help me not only to speed up the sewing time but also to work with fabrics that my current domestic machine cannot cope with. (Ever wondered why I don't generally offer items made with thicker fabrics like PVC? There's the answer!) Having stronger, more efficient machines will leave me more time for developing new ideas and expanding the business in other ways.

I would also like to explore working with new fabrics that would previously have been out of my price range. Certain fabrics only become economically viable for me if I buy them in bulk - say, 25 metres or more - but the large outlay required for this currently limits the choice of both fabric and supplier. With capital investment to hand, I can throw the net wider and access the fabrics that my customers want but which I currently sometimes cannot offer.

Finally, I'm looking at ways of taking my sewing and design skills to the next level by attending sewing courses in the local area. This will not only help me to improve and ultimately expand the range of items that I can offer, but will also support my local, largely rural economy, which relies heavily upon the creative industries.

If you'd like to help by investing via a one-off or regular donation, I will return the favour by providing you with personalised discount codes for use on my site as a thank you. For example, if you make a one-off donation, you'll get a discount code for your next order. If you choose to make a monthly donation, on the other hand, I'll provide you with ongoing discounts to ensure that you get money off every order that you place for as long as your donation continues. (I'll also aim to prioritise your orders at those times when there's a bit of a queue!)

I'll keep you all updated on what your donations have helped me to purchase for the business and I'll look forward to sharing news of what promises to be a fantastic year ahead for ShinyShortzRyan.

Many thanks and wishing you a similarly prosperous 2019.

    Ryan ;-)
