Help build Cambodia's first adventure camp for kids
In Cambodia, too many children living in poverty never have the opportunity to visit the ocean, to play in the sand or to experience God's healing and love in his beautiful green creation. With Shalom Valley now they can!
Shalom Valley is Cambodia's first purpose-built camp on 12 acres of land by the sea, near the coastal resort town of Kep. As a social enterprise, the vision of Shalom Valley is to strengthen Cambodian children and families by providing an affordable place for groups to experience a retreat or training and where future proceeds will fund the work of Alongsiders International.
Now we have an exciting opportunity to add a beautiful finishing touch on the camp.
Right beside Shalom Valley stands a majestic, century-old ruin. Built by the first pepper farmers in the area, it once provided shelter for local laborers. Sadly, 50 years ago the roof was destroyed by a bomb during the Vietnam war. The walls still bear the scars of that time of violence and war.
Developers have been trying to buy the land and knock down this historical ruin in the name of progress and profit. But the owner has offered us a window of opportunity to purchase this little piece of history and preserve the building - as a chapel.
So here’s our dream…
Imagine this ruin transformed into a simple open air chapel. A place where the youth and children of Cambodia can come for worship and prayer, and meeting intimately with God – perhaps for the first time ever - under the stars.
In a time where everything is shifting and uncertain, we want to do something beautiful and worshipful. We want to secure this broken piece of Cambodia’s history and make this dream come true for the children of this generation and the next. We want to build something that lasts – for decades.
The team at Shalom Valley are ready to move ahead. But first they need the funds to buy the land and the ruin. Help us make history.
