Goal
We are partnering with the local association, Muhisimbi Voice of Youth in Conservation, to support vulnerable teenage mothers in the district of Musanze, Kinigi, Rwanda.
It started end of 2018 with a group of 90 young women aged 14 to 20, and their children, who were living outside without the support of their family. They left school and had no job. These girls didn't have access to basic health for themselves and their children, and simple basics such as soap and food are missing.
We believe that educating women is essential in breaking the cycle of poverty.
By partnering with Muhisimbi Voice of Youth in Conservation, our goal is to amplify their voice to protect the young women and reinsert them in to the community by sponsoring vocational training. Vocational training such as sewing allow these women to have the opportunity to achieve long term sustainable financial independence.
Thanks to your donation, we have been able to support them with
- Renting a shelter
- Sanitation and healthcare
- Sponsoring vocational training for the young mothers and building sewing skills (trainer, providing new sewing machines, tables and material)
- basics: food for the babies, sanitary.
The covid slow down unfortunately the program.
But in 2021 all the girls have completed their training. Now most of them are in the cooperative they have created, some have been hired and we had as well some girls who went back to school.
Thanks to to the great work of the local organization we can help more girls. We have now another group who is currently taking the training.
We are continuing to support the group with financing medical insurance, renting a shelter, food and sanitation during their training.
And we continue to support the first group with their business.
A way to support them is to make a donation against a beautiful pouch. A great way for them to show their work.
