Goal
We are partnering with the local association, Muhisimbi Voice of Youth in Conservation, to support vulnerable teenage mothers in the district of Musanze, Kinigi, Rwanda.
In the village, 90 young women aged 14 to 20, and their children, are living outside without the support of their family. They have left school and they have no job. These women don’t have access to basic health for themselves and their children, and simple basics such as soap and food are missing.
We believe that educating women is essential in breaking the cycle of poverty.
By partnering with Muhisimbi Voice of Youth in Conservation, our goal is to amplify their voice to protect the young women and reinsert them in to the community by sponsoring vocational training. Vocational training such as sewing allow these women to have the opportunity to achieve long term sustainable financial independence.
The donations will support the following:
- Renting a shelter for another year to protect these vulnerable women and their children • Sanitation and healthcare
- Sponsoring vocational training for the young mothers and building sewing skills (trainer, providing new sewing machines, tables and material)
- basics: food for the babies, sanitary.
We have been able to contribute to the training of half of the girls (45) in 2018 and 2019. in 2020 30 girls have been graduated and in 2020 15 new graudated. With the covid the training took more time and the training of the second group started in 2021 (45 girls)
