We met our goal of $10,000!
The humanitarian relief effort during which AVSI delivered life saving support to thousands of individuals in the aftermath of the deadly hurricane which swept over the island in early October continues with our support, while our sight is now more clearly focused on the question, "what next?"
One major issue to face is the devastation of agriculture in the South Department where the majority of Haitians rely on farming for food and income. It is estimated that 90% of subsistence crops have been wiped out, forests and fruit trees were also severely damaged. The winter planting season is fast approaching and the people are not ready. A food security crisis is looming, especially when the international relief slows down or dries up.
On Giving Tuesday, November 29, 2016, AVSI-USA is launching a new campaign "Seeds of Hope in Haiti: Agricultural Recovery Fund."
Together, we can make a big difference by sowing seeds of hope in Haiti. Join us!
