Goal

HOOD RIVER ADOPT A DOG NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT TODAY.

Thanks to the diligent efforts of our staff and volunteers, our dogs are enjoying the best standards of care in our power as we work to get them back to their families, or to new forever homes. However, as everyone is aware, the costs of living and doing business have risen dramatically in the past few months. This starts with the cost of dog food and medical care, where even routine care has risen as much as 50% in the past year. This also includes ensuring we can pay enough to retain our great staff, and to help them live in our community.

Due to these rising costs, Hood River Adopt A Dog is facing an emergency situation - we only have enough cash on hand to operate for another 2 months. While we enjoy a good relationship with our partners at Hood River County, they do not and have never fully funded the cost of caring for our dogs in our community. This is where you come in - we have depended on donations & grants from our community to operate since 2007, and now, we urgently NEED YOUR HELP.

In the next month, we need your support to raise $100,000 in operating funds. We are also asking at least 50 people to step up and join us as monthly donors, to allow us to sustainably operate now and for years to come. Here's how you can help us reach our goals:

  • Provide a one-time donation or sign up to contribute monthly here.
  • Spread the word by sharing this campaign.
  • Attend our Paws & Pints fundraiser at the Ruins on May 23rd - this is our biggest annual fundraiser, and matters more than ever this year. You can purchase tickets at https://www.tickettomato.com/event/8696
  • Consider adopting or fostering one of our great dogs!
  • If you have significant time, resources, or local connections and want to help guide the future of our community's shelter, join our Board of Directors by reaching out to our president at president@hoodriveradoptadog.org.

Donate today, spread the word, visit our website at hoodriveradoptadog.org to learn more about us, and help us save our shelter so that we may continue our mission of helping dogs and families in our community.

Hood River County needs a dog shelter! Launching the shelter was the dream bequeathed by Ross and Daphne Hukari. Now it's up to us! My donation is in memory of Conall and Benny, my two white terriers.
