I am 27 years old Female and have been a migrant in Europe for five years (from the middle east). I came here because I admired Europe its history, freedom, culture, and way of life. As someone who chose this continent, I believe integration is not optional but a responsibility. Too often, migration becomes a source of division when some newcomers reject the values, laws, and civic culture of the countries that welcomed them instead of adapting to them. I saw my country of origin, being fragmented and entered 40 years of civil war because of immigrants who came as refugees and disrespected our heritage and provoked division and war. I do not want this to happen again and to become uncontrollable in Europe. I also believe Europe’s identity was shaped by centuries of Christian heritage and the cultural values that grew from it. Whether one is religious or not, those roots have played a major role in forming European civilization. In my view, as Europeans have become more disconnected from that shared heritage, it has become more difficult to define and defend a common identity. A society that forgets its own foundations struggles to ask others to respect them. I believe every European who loves Europe, and every migrant who has chosen to build a life here, should stand together to preserve Europe’s identity, respect its laws and traditions, and ensure that integration remains a shared commitment. Loving the country that welcomes you means contributing to its future, not trying to reshape it into the place you chose to leave.
