Sandra Schultz lost her battle with recurrent ovarian cancer in July of 2024 at the age of 61.
Sandra was a mother of four, grandmother of five, and always put others ahead of herself. When her youngest started elementary school, she focused on giving back to the community. She spent countless hours working on numerous causes affecting teens. Initially, her efforts were focused on her local school district, but eventually morphed to the county and state levels. Her work was focused on student stress, drug use, addiction, drug collection, and parental education.
Sandra was selfless, had incredible energy, and always maintained a positive attitude. In her final years, months and weeks, dealing with her disease, she considered herself fortunate that her condition and support system was so much better than many of the cancer patients she encountered.
As a legacy to Sandra’s life, her kindness, her positivity, and her desire to help others, Sandra’s family wants to financially assist disadvantaged cancer patients. Her family felt fortunate to learn that WOCA has programs that align 100% with the family goals of helping underprivileged women struggling with GYN cancers. With the help and organization of WOCA, her family is sponsoring a dollar-for-dollar matching contribution campaign for the first $30,000 contributed to WOCA. The match is $25,000 from Sandra’s immediate family and $5,000 from her niece and nephew, who lost their mom to ovarian cancer 25 years ago.
Sandra was a very bright light, had an infectious smile and laugh, and tried to make every day great. She would be proud to know her kindness and generosity lives on.
Contributions to Sandra’s Lasting Legacy will directly benefit the Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance. Specifically, they will support the Connie Rutledge Legacy Fund (CRLF) and the Hope for the Holidays- Adopt a Family Campaign. These two programs provide much-needed financial and emotional support to individuals undergoing treatment for gynecologic cancer.
