Samia's Voice Fund

Fundraising for the Samia's Voice Fund.

Samia Omar Yusuf was a young women from Somalia who had risen from beneath oppression and become an icon for female empowerment during the 2008 Beijing Olympics where her passion and fierce determination touched the hearts of millions, despite being given poorly fitted second hand shoes the night before (impacting her performance).

We lost Samia in 2013 when she drown in the Mediterranean after being rejected by officials for asylum. She has fought her way through over a year of human trafficking and was just miles away from the coast (and freedom) when one last act of inhumanity resulted in this tragic loss.

We honor and promote her legacy of determination. Samia will never be silenced.
