Goal
Dear Dharma Friends,
During this time of year, in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, we believe that the result of all our actions, positive and negative, are greatly increased. We call the month of the fourth full moon following Tibetan New Year "Saka Dawa". It is a time to be especially virtuous and diligent in our activities, to practice our faith well, and to benefit others. The full moon of Saka Dawa (June 5th) is when the Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and death are observed. It is also said that Shakyamuni Buddha became ordained and performed many miracles during this month.
During this month, where merits of virtuous actions are multiplied, we invite you to engage in the practice of generosity with your kind support of DNKL. Our goal is to raise funds for two animal rescues in India in need of funds. All additional funds raised will be applied to our annual budget to operate the center.
Thank you!
The merit of any good deeds that you perform during this month are thought to be multiplied many times over — by as many as one hundred million times. Saka Dawa is an excellent time to dedicate yourself to taking spiritually positive actions.
