Goal
Support Accessible Earth-Friendly Education in Central Maine
Saint Joseph's Nature Sanctuary is the result of a unique partnership of local civic and non-profit organizations who came together in late 2021 around a four-acre plot of land owned by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Lyon along the Sebasticook River in Winslow, Maine. (Click here to learn more.)
Together, these partners sought to create a welcoming place where anyone could share and learn ways of caring for the earth, build community, integrate their own spirituality, or simply enjoy nature's beauty.
This collaborative project is the Saint Joseph’s Nature Sanctuary: a haven for community building, education, and spirituality.
Our first successful year of monthly, well-attended, free programming was built on the generosity of volunteers and donated supplies. As interest in this project grew, we became aware of the need to expand programming and accessibility for children and those with limited mobility by building a three-season, screened-in, accessible outdoor learning space and a nature trail with educational signage and seating.
Your donation to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Lyon for the Saint Joseph's Nature Sanctuary will help us reach our goal of raising $36,000 to construct the screened-in space and trail system.
To donate, you can use the form on this page or, if you prefer, you can donate by check. Please make checks out to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Lyon-Maine, write "SJNS" (Saint Joseph's Nature Sanctuary) in the note to ensure your donation is applied directly to support Saint Joseph's Nature Sanctuary, and mail to: Sisters of St. Joseph, 80 Garland Road, Winslow, ME 04901
Join us so we can provide expanded, accessible programming by 2023.
