SMFS is at the very beginning stage of fundraising, so anything would help us to establish enough funds for at least 10 free moves by the end of the current fiscal year. This means that we will initially try to raise enough to be used for moving materials, packing and unpacking labor, administration costs, and transport services for our participants’ moves.
Each move costs an average of $2000, including the moving truck, fuel, labor and materials.
Additionally, since we have no means to transport possessions from one location to the next (i.e. apartment, personal care home, group homes, or assisted living community). If we are able to fund-raise we can ask for funds from the community at large for a small moving van for this purpose as well as to transport much-needed packing materials, and the dollars received would enable us to maintain the van - (and possibly brand it for awareness!) in its first year of use.
