Sadness, Love, Openness — with Lama Bruce Newman

Our teacher Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche's latest book, Sadness, Love, Openness: The Buddhist Path of Joy, is at once accessible, playful, and genuine. Over the course of eight weekly online meetings, Lama Bruce Newman will unpack the richness of Rinpoche's advice, which points to how we can incorporate daily experiences into our spiritual path and awaken to how things truly are. We'll learn how, by embracing sadness, love, and openness in our lives, we can develop an altruistic attitude to help all beings who suffer and to reduce our own greed and aggression.

This easy-to-read manual by one of the most widely loved and respected Tibetan Buddhist teachers of our time, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, teaches us how to honestly explore and deal with our own hang-ups and neuroses. Through knowing our own true nature as aware and compassionate, we can progress, step-by-step, on the Buddhist path and use Rinpoche’s pithy wisdom along the way as a touchstone.

This course is being shared with the Gomde California community by one of Rinpoche's most senior students, Lama Bruce Newman. Lama Bruce's close connection with Rinpoche, and his long-time association with Gomde California, will make for a truly intimate opportunity for us to join together to cultivate the essential qualities of sadness, of love, and of openness. All classes will be presented online, via Zoom.
