      Ruedas para Solidary Wheels

∇  SEE BELOW FOR ENGLISH VERSION ∇

      • acompañamos sanitariamente curando heridas y lesiones graves y tratando enfermedades infecciosas

Solidary Wheels had been looking and finally found the wheels it needed to continue its daily activities in Melilla!

We needed a vehicle that would be practical for the city, a vehicle that would serve us both to move around and to transport goods and to carry out, two days a week, food distributions for people on the move who live in the city of Melilla and try, every night, to reach the mainland.

Description of the project. Characteristics, strengths and differentials

      • To help carry out the everyday trips and daily routines of the Solidary Wheels team on the ground.
      • To network with other organisations and groups in the city when organising weekly food distributions for people on the move, on the street and/or in Melilla's temporary reception centers.
      • To create links between women on the move. To create a safe space, to be able to move to a quiet place where they can talk and share in order to carry out a proper needs analysis.
      • To arrive on time in those moments when the emergencies can become dangerous, carrying out emergency accompaniment to the hospital.

Motivation and who the project is aimed at

This project is aimed at those who would like to get to know the reality of Melilla, the reality of the Spanish-Moroccan border and the reality of the local people and visitors, but who for some reason cannot travel and want to share, collaborate and donate some money to cover the costs of purchase, travel and arrival in Melilla and the maintenance of the car.

      Solidary Wheels

We are a non-profit association made up of a group of volunteers who share a feeling of non-resignation in the face of European border policies and the constant violation of fundamental rights.

Our main objective is to defend and promote the human rights of those people who find themselves trapped at European borders, regardless of their gender, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, membership of a particular social group or political opinion.

Since January 2020 we have been in Melilla where:

      • we denounce the violations of human rights carried out at the Southern Border
      • we provide psychosocial support to boys and girls in transit who need it and want it, promoting active listening, affection and understanding
      • we provide legal support in the administrative and judicial processes of regularisation and obtaining documentation from the police and immigration authorities
      • we provide health care support by treating serious wounds and injuries and infectious diseases
      • we provide assistance by supplying basic necessities such as underwear and/or personal hygiene products
      • we weave networks of trust with women in vulnerable situations in the city of Melilla
      • we raise awareness of the constant violation of human rights suffered by people in border areas.
