SUPPORTING RESCUES DOING RESCUE WELL
One of the most common questions I get when people learn about the atrocities of the slaughter pipeline is “how can we help?”
I would say you’re already making a difference by being open to learning about the industry. Education and awareness are the foundation of change. The other main thing I encourage everyone to do is support an animal rescue who is dedicated to change. This includes not only the rescue but providing education and awareness to the public so that we may collectively end the cruel industry.
For this fundraiser, I am asking people to donate to Ruby’ Purpose – an equine rescue located in Paso Robles, CA. They focus on rescuing and rehabilitating horses and donkeys from the slaughter pipeline. Ruby's Purpose also prides itself in the rescue and rehab of blind and sight impaired horses. Sadly, many of these horses are thrown away just because of their disability alone, despite their ability to overcome and find resilience in the face of adversity.
Ruby’s Purpose is also incredibly active on social media showing behind the scenes of day to day life of a rescue while also creating content to educate.
WHY RUBY’S PURPOSE
Equine rescue is costly. It adds up quickly. Rescuing an animal from the slaughter pipeline is more than the initial price at auction. Rescue done well includes copious amounts of support for that animal after their initial freedom ride home. Transport costs, initial vet visits, hay, supplies, medication, and additional and unexpected medical interventions are all part of rescue.
Marilu at Ruby’s Purpose pours her whole heart into her rescue and ensuring the animals in her care are not only safe but receive above and beyond care and love. As you can imagine, running a rescue can be taxing, not only physically and emotionally – but financially. I don’t believe any rescue should feel alone or like they have the world on their shoulders. With a huge community of animal advocates and lovers, we have the collective power to not only support the animals of rescue – but the people too. I think it is incredibly important to make sure the RESCUERS of rescue feel supported, seen and heard just as much as its important to make sure the animals receive what they need to thrive. Without the rescuers, none of this is possible – so let’s support Ruby’s Purpose and take some of the weight off by showing solidarity, support and raising some funding.
WILSONHAUS’ INVOLVEMENT / WHO AM I?
My name is Morgan and I have embarked on fundraising for rescues I find inspiration in as a way to contribute to animal welfare. It is important to me to champion community. We are so much better and more efficient when we work together towards big issues, such as animal welfare.
These rescues do SO MUCH for our animal companions, but they need funding to be able to continue their work. A common issue I hear is how difficult and stressful it is to fundraise alone – which is where I believe WilsonHaus and the community on social media can rally together to help implement change and save lives.
YOUR DONATION:
Your donation goes directly to the nonprofit rescue, Ruby’s Purpose Animal Rescue & Sanctuary Inc. out of Paso Robles, CA. The donation is used for daily operation costs.
Oftentimes, it can be a struggle for rescues to raise these “mundane” funds, as people do not see the urgency in it. The day-to-day costs are what make it all possible and set up the foundation to be able to participate in the “urgent” cases. Without the foundation, nothing else can be built around it.
Your donation will be used to supply food, supplements, shelter, and medical care to the animals already in their care. Everything from shavings to food pellets to a new manure pick – it all adds up but is 100% necessary to give the animals the BEST care possible.
It is also a tax-deductible donation

EVERY DONATION MATTERS, IT ALL ADDS UP.
Truly. Your contribution, no matter how seemingly “small,” MATTERS and is beyond appreciated. None of this is possible without big hearted people coming together.

Your story reminds me of my dog scooby. He was raised as a fighting pit and was given back to the pound by 2 owners and we’ve had him since 2015. He is nothing but a love bug. Thank you for this. 🫶🏼🫶🏼

I just fell today on your page. Adopting a rescue that escaped the hands of hell is not easy, but definitely the most rewarding thing I have ever done. To see them slowly break out of that shell they built up has been amazing to watch. I honour and respect what you are doing to help the rescue community. I wish I knew where to even start something like this in Canada. I know that most of our rescues come in from the US and they could use the help to bring in more of these babies, educate people on the beautiful gift of rescuing a dog is and to facilitate the transport and adoption process. Any money raised to change an animal’s life, is worth so much more than the dollar value. I hope to one day immillate your courage to take on this project and make not only my life more fulfilled, but so many other’s lives worth saving. God bless you. Your sorry is inspirational. And I’m so sorry about Lewis. I can’t even imagine the pain. Keep doing what you do. You are really a shining light to hundreds of dogs that truly need support. ❤️❤️🇨🇦
