UPDATE:
We made it! Rosie made it to AVC, but Happy Feet don't come cheap. Our $5 Friday got us here based on the consult estimate, however, it turns out today is $1000 Monday.
And after our initial conversation the vet and vet student, Rosie is now off for her assessment.
But not before having to give a $1000 deposit to get Rosie looked.
We know is in great hands, and we want to ensure Rosie has a happy, healthy life. And in order to ensure we are doing the best for her, we need to get the full picture of her health. So the vets will be assessing her mobility challenges and also trying to see if she may have any other internal issues related to her genetics.
Please help Rosie live her best life by contributing to her Happy Feet fund so we can foot (no pun intended) this giant bill.
Rosie has come a considerable way since she arrived here! Over the last year, she's moved slowly but surely towards being footloose and fancy-free! Her mobility has improved significantly from walking on her needs (and dragging the lower half of her front legs behind her) to walking upright!
This picture was taken when Rosie visited K9 Orthotics and Prosthetics in Nova Scotia for prosthetics that helped her gain confidence, strength, and feel for walking upright.
That was back in July of last year, and with the help of specialists, supporters, and a lot of TLC, she's currently walking upright with the bottom portion of her front legs braced! We never thought she'd come this far, but we had to try!
Now, we're trying again by exploring options for Rosie that we hope will allow her to ditch the braces she needs 24/7 for her front legs.
Rosie will be taking a road trip to Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) in PEI near the end of next month to see if surgery might be an option for her front legs.
After AVC performs x-rays and an exam, we’ll have a better idea of what’s in store for Rosie. However, before Rosie heads out on her road trip near the end of July, we'll need to raise the money for her appointment, including:
$200 - $300 (+tax) for the x-rays
$215 (+ tax) for the consultation/exam
To help cover the costs of Rosie's hospital visit, please consider donating via e-transfer to [email protected] or online on this page. All donations will receive a tax receipt, and this page will track how close we are to meeting our goal for Rosie's $5 Friday.
The countdown to another cross-province road trip to help Rosie be footloose and fancy-free is on!
