Goal
We are honored to announce our first giving campaign of these new, terrible, foreboding dark times!
Avalon has the ambitious goal of rallying our army of white women to commit to long-haul activism. We need 100 new monthly donors for Project Relief, ideally at the $25/mo level or higher.
Many of you came to us through our clubs or our funny memes, but most of you are attracted to us, in small or large part, because of our activism. Some of you have gotten deeply involved, many have been tangentially activated, and a lot of you have meant to get involved but just never got around to it.
I know why we don’t organize to our fullest. It’s not entirely our own fault; the system is designed to keep you overworked with jobs, children, impending doom, etc. It’s all part of a powerful strategy to keep you from engaging. The exhausted cannot organize effectively. That is not a flaw in the system; this is a feature.
But the time has come to show up—with intention and dedication.
As white people, we have had, and continue to have, a lot to reckon with right now. But the good news is, you don’t need to feel overwhelmed by the forest in front of you, because that overwhelm will incapacitate you. The best and most sustainable thing to do right now is pick one tree in the vast forest of need and oppression. Make that your favorite tree—the one you love and nurture. And this is key: make that tree a part of your life, for the long term.
This moment feels bad, but it is just a moment; it will pass, and you will again become exhausted and distracted by very real concerns within your own life and family. But I am asking you to make this tree a part of your life and your family. Pick one cause and make it your cause. Make this tree the center of your garden—not just for an election cycle, not just when a big bad man wins, but forever. Because these groups need us, and want us, forever, not just for a moment. Make activism a part of your life.
Avalon North was founded on principles of empathy, strength, and solidarity. It’s a place where women empower each other to grow and lead.
Now, as our communities face renewed threats, Avalon North is joining forces with Project Relief to protect the lives, dignity, and rights of all marginalized people at risk.
Project Relief is on the front lines every day, fighting for justice, equality, and the safety of marginalized people, including immigrants, people of color, and vulnerable families who often face systemic discrimination. They’re doing everything to protect our community, showing up in courtrooms, in policy fights, and in the lives of those in need. Project Relief brings a message of hope and resilience to people who have too often been ignored, neglected, or targeted.
We gratefully acknowledge that most of our donations come from the working poor—you are the foundation of all movements, and none of these orgs would be here without you. But if you are someone with means, please give big.
We are asking for 100 new donors at the $25–$100/month level. Monthly donations speak volumes to our Black-led orgs. It says we are with you beyond this news cycle. We are committed to you, protecting you, and helping you thrive far into the future.
I am humbly asking you today to make Project Relief your tree—not just for this moment but for the long haul. Click the link in our bio to become a monthly donor.
And when your tree calls for volunteer hands, be ready to show up and take direction.
Welcome to the fight! You are an activist now, baybees.
Solidarity forever,
Jocelyn Toffic
