Goal
2021 Annual Drive!
2021 was a tough year for the world. In Nepal we were in and out of lockdowns, with schools opening and closing again. We faced shortages of goods and a border crises as migrant laborers flooded home from India. And yet, with all but essential health services on hold, and personnel at every level of the health system occupied with managing the pandemic, Jevaia launched two new sites, held outreach programs, conducted our annual music video competition during the festival of Dashain, and launched a qualitative research study that is slated for publication.
We also used this year to dramatically increase our advocacy. After many years of effort, 2021 was the year Jevaia began getting invited to policy planning meetings that mostly include large, well-known international organizations like the Red Cross. Jevaia is the only non-government stakeholder in Nepal advocating for universal oral health care services to address Nepal's most prevalent disease.
Perhaps most importantly, nearly all of our working areas allocated local funds for oral health services in the new fiscal year that began last July. This is possibly the most meaningful endorsement that our work can receive. We are optimistic for the future when we find that even during the hardest days, the communities that we serve value the work we do.
And we value you, our supporters, who make this work possible.
Thank you for your support as we head towards 2022 and a fresh, promising new year.
