Goal
We need your support! We have a handful of incredible opportunities and also a handful of rejected grants weighing on us as we try to manage producing the first two cities of our Canadian tour. The Canada Council received an enormous amount of applications this round, and we have unfortunately been unsuccessful in securing the funds we need to tour our work next month.
We're in a bit of a last-minute bind and we're looking for help from people who have a little extra financial comfort to support us through this rapid.
We have an exciting touring opportunity for one of our latest full-length works, "Sex Dalmatian." This work has been an enormous step in shaping our vision. We feel so strongly as a group that this is our moment to share what we do with audiences across the country; we're at the top of our game and audiences seem to have the palette for our weird brand of humour. If we wait ... we're scared we might fizzle. We have big lofty dreams that stretch past our indie beginnings and this step is crucial in starting to move toward those goals.
Sex Dalmatian's Stops include:
Festival of New Dance in St. John's, Newfoundland - October 7th 2023
and
Fluid Fest in Calgary, Alberta - October 27th and 28th 2023
We'll take all the help we can get, but we're looking for $10,000 to help support:
- Rehearsal Fees for the Dancers
- Show Fees for the Dancers
- Per Diem, Travel and Accommodation Assistance in town
We hope you might extend some generosity and grace our way. If you're interested in making a donation outside of this platform please don't hesitate to contact Alyssa Martin at alyssa@rockbottommovement.com
Sex Dalmatian began as a zany impersonation we used as a joke (read: coping mechanism) to escape from the most mundane aspects of our lives, and thus was born the world of Mary Michael Meeks, Amalia and of course, work. These characters are extensions of the complex fibres that make up who we are. You, too, have probably felt like a dancing oyster with no purpose, a love-hungry skinless rat, or a corporate empress with a stress management issue at some point in your life. If you have, you’re not alone. If you haven’t, lucky you ..
