Robert Masur Fellowship in Civil Liberties

The Robert Masur Fellowship in Civil Liberties is an annual prize administered by Type Media Center. The fellowship competition is open to first-year law students who intend to carry out significant activities during the summer in the areas of civil rights and/or civil liberties. Fellows each receive a $2,000 honorarium. Proposed activities may include a writing or research project, work with a public interest organization in the areas of civil rights or civil liberties, work on a civil rights or civil liberties law case, or any other work in the areas of civil rights or civil liberties.

Since 1988, the Masur Fellowship has supported nearly 40 individuals during their first summer as 1Ls. These students have gone on to become state supreme court justices, public defenders, academics, in-house counsel for major civil rights organizations, and more. We are proud of the small part we play in the success of law students' careers in civil liberties.

This fall, Type has launched a fundraising campaign in support of the program's future. By raising $130,000 we will ensure an endowment that provides two $5,000 fellowship stipends each year. Please help us support students by sustaining this important fellowship program.
