Robert “Bob” and Betty McLean Fund

Bob died in Oct., 2015; Betty died in 1997. They were parents of three children, active in the Beckley Presbyterian Church, valued members of the community and close friends to many. Bob was born in Beckley, graduated from WWHS, attended Hampden-Sydney College, graduated from Davis and Elkins, served in the U.S. Army earning the Bronze Star during the Korean Conflict, and became one of the state’s most respected realtors. Sigmund-McLean Realtors developed McLean Addition, Old Mill Village, Stanaford Acres, Landmark at Carriage Drive, Pine Hills and Woodcrest. The McLeans were frequent donors to BAF funds, but had not created an endowment bearing their name. When making a donation in memory of Bob, Jay and Lisa Word realized that this much-loved couple did not have a fund that would forever recognize their place in our community. The Words generously created this named unrestricted permanent endowment, and others made additional memorial gifts.
