Rising Kites

To know Lucy is to love Lucy as she is pure joy. 

Following a healthy pregnancy, delivery, and first 24 hours of life, we were met with a possible Down Syndrome Diagnosis followed by a failed heart screening. Lucy was transferred via ambulance to Helen Devos NICU to undergo more testing. To spare you all the details, I will summarize these few long, hard days by saying it simply - God showed up. He showed up through our parents and siblings. He showed up through prayers and texts and phone calls. He showed up through dear friends making the drive to hold us in the hospital. He showed up.

These days, though much less uneventful (praise God!), He continues to show up. God shows up in Lucy's smile that lights up her whole face. He shows up in her deep belly laughs and sneezes and yawns. He shows up in her bright blue eyes and sweet button nose. He shows up.
