Goal

We're running a peer-to-peer campaign for Rising Kites whose mission is to celebrate the gift of Down Syndrome by providing resource bags at diagnosis, employment and skills training opportunities, and a space for parents of children with disabilities to connect.

Joe:
I'm passionate about Rising Kites because it is a unique and innovative charity that addresses a critical need. Becoming a parent is a significant life change, and we deeply appreciate the community aspects of Rising Kites. It offers not just one-time assistance, but a lifelong community and a place to belong. I have fond memories of growing up in a small southern town where a café and thrift store, The Beehive, employed people with disabilities. This rare and vibrant community hub made the town brighter and more connected, with local businesses often holding their meetings there. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the inclusive and supportive environment that Rising Kites fosters, making it a cause close to our hearts.

E.B.:
I believe that every child is special and deserves a warm welcome into this world and a place to belong. This belief drives my commitment as a board member and donor of Rising Kites. Joe and I received unexpected health news about our baby at our 20-week ultrasound, and I know firsthand what it's like to process a life different from the one planned. The bag program at Rising Kites addresses that critical moment for parents receiving a Down syndrome diagnosis, providing a loving community to support them throughout their journey. I am also incredibly proud to support the work Rising Kites is doing to give individuals with disabilities meaningful work through the coffee shop.

We are asking for your help with a donation of any amount. As a family and through Joe's business, Somersault, we will be matching every donation up to $2,000.
