Rising Kites

Some moments are crystal clear from Zarah's first days and weeks; the exhaustion, the community support, our love for her, the feeling of being thrusted into a new world of NICU, therapy, and feeding tubes which quickly became the new normal. Other moments are blurred, but at some point, hospital staff gave us a bag from Rising Kites.

In that bag, we found information on community resources, Zarah found herself a favorite toy, and we got in contact with the founders of Rising Kites who have become friends. 

The mission of Risings Kites is "to celebrate the gift of Down syndrome by bringing encouragement, resources, and support to those within the Down syndrome community." One way is through providing bags of resources and encouragement to families that have received a new Down Syndrome diagnosis. Another is to open a coffee shop in Bridgman, MI that provides employment for adults with disabilities and serve a delicious cup of brew.
