Rising Kites

I met Danielle at Calvin University when we lived on the same floor. I followed her journey with her daughter Sammie and loved her mission when she started Rising Kites in 2021. 

Two years later we were surprised by the addition of our 4th child and her diagnosis of Trisomy 21. Scared and desperate for support I reached out to Danielle and she wrote back immediately congratulating me on my daughter’s life and confirming her value in this world. She was there to comfort me, acknowledge my feelings and support me as we walked this unexpected journey. The beautiful welcome bag was an added bonus to the community we found online through Rising Kites. 

Since then, I have committed to joining Danielle and Sammie’s mission and I encourage you to do the same! 

Rising Kites sent out over 2500 bags in 2024 to 22 different countries. In May 2024, Rising Kites Coffee was born giving meaningful work to 8 individuals with a disability (plus amazing coffee!). 

So please join their mission in supporting families as they walk the road of a recent diagnosis and create a community of hope, love and support.
