Rights for Nature
Rights for Nature is an international movement that supports the universal rights of nature. We demand powerful transformation of the governance of natural systems and advocate for the global establishment of legislature in recognition of the inherent rights of nature.
Every day, 200 species of plant, insect, bird and mammal go extinct. Scientists estimate that around 1 million animal and plant species are now threatened with extinction by the end of the century. Indigenous groups and traditional ecological knowledge have paved the way for rights of nature movements across the globe. Exploitation and extraction are not the only way. Rights for Nature is a global movement working to bestow juridical personhood for the environment and recognize the rights of nature.
Because Nature is People.
