The Riff Raff statue, also known as "Rocky Horror Park," was unveiled in 2004 in Hamilton, New Zealand, to celebrate the legacy of Richard O'Brien, the creator of The Rocky Horror Show.
Situated on the historic site of the Embassy Theatre on Victoria Street, a cherished movie theatre where Richard O'Brien watched sci fi and horror movies at the 'late night double feature picture show'. The statue pays tribute to his formative years in the city before he rose to international fame.
Crafted by Weta Workshop, renowned for their work on the Lord of the Rings films, the bronze statue captures O'Brien in his iconic role as Riff Raff.
This landmark has become a significant pop-culture symbol in Hamilton, intertwining local history with the enduring influence of its celebrated creator.
In an exciting development, Richard O'Brien is set to re-unveil the Riff Raff statue in the newly redesigned Embassy Park - Valentine's Day, February 14, 2026.
And what more perfect day to celebrate such a beloved icon, on the day where we share the love!
