Ride For Freedom Human Trafficking Prevention Month
This January, as we observe Human Trafficking Prevention Month, we invite you to take a stand with Ride For Freedom. Behind the hustle and bustle of our cities and often hidden in plain sight our communities, a human tragedy persists.
The United States, shockingly, ranks among the worst nations for human trafficking, with a staggering 199,000 incidents occurring annually. However, only a fraction—10,360 cases—made it to the forefront in 2021. Among these, California bore the weight of 1,334 individuals, victims of a crime that transcends borders and touches the lives of the innocent.
Behind these harrowing statistics lie the stories of children, innocents under the age of 18, trafficked in sports within and into the USA through the false promise of trials with professional clubs. Young adults too are exploited. The dark reality is often hidden, concealed by the enormity of the issue and the courage it takes for survivors to come forward.
Your support matters now more than ever. The funds we raise during this crucial period will fuel our Freewheel program in California. By empowering survivors of modern slavery, we aim to not only liberate them physically but also mend the wounds within. The Freewheel program is a beacon of healing, designed to improve the mental health of survivors through cycling, giving them the strength to reclaim their lives.
Every dollar you contribute brings us one pedal stroke closer to bringing about change. Support Ride For Freedom and be part of the solution—because freedom should never be a luxury; it’s a basic human right. We all have the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture.
