Goal

MV Schamonchi, a 144ft historic ferry boat docked in the industrial Newtown Creek in Brooklyn, has long been home to a collaborative community in the heart of one of Brooklyn’s most thriving creative neighborhoods.

After a decade in New York City, the vessel is deteriorating and is in need of immediate and substantial repairs. If we are successful in raising the money for these repairs, our ship will return to her glory both as a powerful community incubator and a seafaring vessel, ready to embark upon voyages and missions near and far!

The Schamonchi seeks to serve as a crossroads of educational and cultural organizations. The 300+-capacity, three-deck vessel is open-water capable and provides a unique space to gather for meetings, workshops, or events, as well as exploration, research, and educational tours of New York's waterways.

Our mission is to provide the New York waterways (Emphasis Newtown Creek-English Kills) a partner in environmental conservation and reclamation, education and community outreach.

With your help, we can continue to host and serve our community, providing space for collaboration and community incubation.
