Rescuing and preserving the past of the English Midlands for over 50 years
Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings has been rescuing the built heritage of the Midlands since 1962, when a group of volunteers started the Museum by rescuing a timber-framed house from Bromsgrove dating back to 1450 which was about to be demolished.
Since then the Museum has rescued 30 buildings which faced destruction and transported them to our rural site in North Worcestershire, and re-erected them for the benefit of visitors from across the UK and beyond. We have also been involved in numerous campaigns and restorations to preserve buildings on their original sites when this was possible.
The Museum uses the rescued buildings to show what life was like for the people of the Midlands in the past - especially everyday buildings which would not otherwise be preserved. Our collection represents all types of peoples' homes and workplaces - not just those of the wealthy or aristocratic!
Avoncroft has done all of this without direct funding from local or national government - but has relied on the good will and support of millions of people who have visited and decided to support this work or from people who hope to visit in the future.
Please help support us by donating to the Museum's campaign to continue this important work

This breaks my heart ... I remember seeing the first buildings arriving at the site, many years ago. My whole family has been involved with the Museum and Model Engineers for decades and we are all appalled .. my late parents would be devastated. But... it can be rebuilt and Allie the history of our area to live in again Avoncroft ...’You can do it’

This is so shocking. I hope the kids realise what they have done and don’t do it again. Hopefully you are back up and running soon.

I was so sad to see on Midlands news the destruction to your museum by mindless yobs. I hope that my small donation will help towards your restoration costs, and you will be ‘up and running’ very soon.
