Temple Renovation (Phase 1) – Expanding Our Spiritual Home

Dear Devotees and Well-wishers,

By the mercy of Sri Sri Radha Giri Govardhandhari our Hare Krsna Temple - Burbank continues to grow with an ever-expanding community of devotees families, and spiritual seekers. To better serve this growing spiritual family we are embarking on an exciting temple renovation project,  creating more sacred space for worship, service, and community connection.

Our renovation will be in three phases beginning with internal improvements to enhance the temple experience for everyone.

Phase 1 – Internal Renovations & Additions (Currently Underway)

A. Renovation

This phase will transform the temple room into a more spiritually uplifting and functional space.

The altar will be relocated to the opposite side, with a custom-built altar already in production. As the temple naturally grows with a full-time pujari and seven-day operation, we will welcome the installation of Sri Sri Radha-Krishna Deities.

Additional upgrades include:

    •    A new Deity kitchen

    •    Two paraphernalia rooms

    •    New flooring (replacing carpet with tiling)

    •    Enhanced sound and music system with high-quality speakers and mixers for kirtan, classes, and cultural programs. 

    •    Live broadcast and streaming equipment, so everyone—near or far—can benefit from the temple’s spiritual vibration

    •    Reconfiguration of a few internal walls to create a more open flow

B. Additions to current facility

In addition to renovation and repurposing, we are introducing several new and essential facilities:

    •    Purpose-built classrooms for our children, our future leaders, so they can receive essential life education in a spiritually nourishing environment.

    •    Additional storage facilities at the back of the property, allowing us to properly care for and organise festival decorations and other paraphernalia.

These improvements will give the temple a warm, devotional, and welcoming atmosphere that truly reflects the heart of our growing congregation.

Phase 2 – Expansion (Within 2–3 Years)

In the coming years, we plan to extend the current temple space by up to 300 square meters.

This new multipurpose area will accommodate larger festivals, weddings, yoga programs, classrooms, and devotional gatherings.

It will also include a bookshop, paraphernalia store, devotee clothing section, library, and more.

This phase is not just about expansion it is about self-sustainability, reducing the need to hire things for festivals/events and creating more opportunities for outreach and service.

Phase 3 – Long-Term Vision

The final phase will involve developing external spaces and a beautiful new temple entrance enhancing the temple’s visibility and accessibility, and symbolising our community’s bright spiritual future.
