Ida Pitotti remembered her sister Rena with this permanent memorial. Rena was born in Glen White in 1921. She graduated from WWHS and Concord College with a teaching degree. Her interest in nursing took her to Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and on-going education in the health science field. She was the head surgical nurse at Beckley Appalachian Hospital for nearly 20 years and then was Director of Health Planning at the VA Medical Center for 15 years. She received numerous awards for her work in nursing, traveled widely, and took an active part in her church. She died in 1999. Recipients of the need-based scholarship must have attended St. Francis de Sales School, and preference will be given to those who pursue a health related career. Students who plan to be teachers will receive secondary consideration.
