Reelect Tim Smith, Region 8 Director!

Tim Smith, elected UAW Region 8 Director in 2022, is a lifelong fighter for working people who rose from the shop floor to Union leadership.

He started as a machine operator at Dana Perfect Circle in 1987 and helped organize the plant into UAW Local 2370—a defining experience that launched decades of organizing and leadership across Kentucky. Smith went on to help form Locals 2407 and 3047, serve in multiple elected roles at Local 2370, and take on statewide political action with the Kentucky State AFL‑CIO.

Appointed an International Representative in 2008, Smith supported a wide range of automotive and supplier facilities, leading bargaining, arbitration, political action, and serving as Region 8’s veterans’ liaison. He became Assistant Director in 2018 before being elected Region 8 Director in 2022. Smith continues to support the membership with passion and conviction each and every day. 

A committed community leader, Smith has coached youth sports, supported local athletics, and stayed active in civic and faith organizations. A Russellville High School graduate and state football champion, he enjoys golfing, fishing, boating, and fitness.

Smith lives in Bowling Green, Kentucky with his companion, Felicia Watts. He is the father of two and the proud grandfather of seven.
