Recreation Management
The Teton River Recreation Fund is designed to raise money to support education and management that promote responsible recreation on the Teton River. The Fund’s goal is to build awareness among all river users of the need to recreate responsibly on the Teton River, and to provide the necessary financial support for on-the-ground implementation of the Teton County Waterways Recreation Ordinance
This fund is held by Friends of the Teton River, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and proceeds will support responsible recreation, education and recreation management on the Teton River. Teton County’s Teton Waterways Recreation Advisory Committee will serve as the advisory panel for the fund and will develop guidelines and recommendations for allocating funds to specific programs and projects. Examples of programs and projects that may be supported by the fund include the Teton River Ambassador program, production and distribution of educational materials about responsible recreation on the Teton River, and upgrades to and management of access point infrastructure, parking, and signage. The Recreation Fund proceeds represent critical private funds that can be used to meet the matching fund requirements for government grants.
Please note that, in 2023, there is no parking fee or user fee for the Teton River. Donation to the recreation fund does not represent a parking or user fee.
Anyone who wishes to help raise awareness about the Teton River Recreation Fund can stop by the FTR office, or see us at an upcoming event, to pick up a Teton River Recreation Fund sticker. We invite you to put this sticker on your water bottle or your cooler, stick it to your boat, trailer or car, put it in a prominent place at your business, or stick it anywhere else that will help others learn about the recreation fund. Please note that this is NOT a parking sticker, and does not convey any benefit to the sticker holder. Donors do not automatically receive a sticker, and a donation is not required to get a sticker.
