Why should you donate?

Kalpetta, the fastest developing town and the headquarters of Wayanad district, didn’t have an Orthodox church for a long time. In the year 1975, seven families in and around Kalpetta came together in faith to build a church in the name of the Holy Mother. Initially, services were only on alternate Sundays and much later services were conducted on every Sunday and on special days. Read more about our church history here.

This small church was not sufficient for the needs of the increasing number of faithful worshippers. The church building was unable to withstand the ravages of time and weather and started to show its age. The building deteriorated despite periodic repair and maintenance work. As the years went by, the number of people attending the church services also increased. Many of them were employees of various government departments posted in Wayanad. The present membership of the church is 42 families and many of them are temporary members. In addition to this, officials and tourists visiting Wayanad attend the Sunday service.

Considering the growth of membership of the church in the near future, and the dilapidated condition of the old church building which was about to collapse. It is necessary to build a new church. The limited number of members and the lack of resources make it difficult to build the church without outside help. As per the present estimate an amount of ₹2000 per square foot area will be needed to complete the construction of the new church building and to provide necessary facilities.

Construction has already started with the initial amount contributed by our church members. We request you to contribute liberally towards this noble cause by sponsoring one more square foot of the church building for ₹2000. You will be remembered in the Sunday payers of the church for the grace of God, through the meditation of our Holy Mother Mary.
