Raising Readers - Sponsored walk by Hachette Ireland 

Hachette Ireland are proud to be taking part in the Raising Readers Sponsored Walk in support of Children's Books Ireland. 

On 9 July, the Hachette Ireland team will be dressing up as our favourite childhood book characters and walking 10km, starting from our office and making our way around Phoenix Park. We're raising funds for Children's Books Ireland, the national reading charity. Every donation made through this page will go directly to supporting their important work.

Why it matters
Did you know? More than 1 in 5 children under the age of 4 in Ireland are never read to. Research shows that a lack of exposure to reading from this young age can have significant impacts on children as they grow, learn, and develop. From improved mental health, increased empathy, literacy and fluency, reading for joy, is the single most important indicator of a child’s future success. Children who read grow up to be happier, healthier and have more opportunities than those who don’t.
